Tesla is a company known for innovation and technology. They have disrupted the automotive industry, and now they have their sights set on the semi truck market. This past November, Tesla unveiled their version of the semi-truck.
On the surface, it is a futuristic take on the semi-truck. A hulking exterior design along with a centered driver seat veer sharply from what is considered the norm. While this is impressive, it’s what is on the inside that counts. Inside, you’ll find a roomy interior along with plenty of technology. Four independent motors power the truck and a huge battery is the source of power. Using electrical power rather than standard diesel is a huge differentiator. Electrical power is much cleaner technology resulting in lower emissions. Simply put, it’s much better for the environment.
Safety is at the heart of their design, and Tesla trucks will have advanced autopilot to guide the driver. For example, autopilot will provide auto breaking and lane change warnings to reduce the chance of an accident. Also, the truck features enormous mirrors and large monitors to provide maximum visibility. In the event of an accident, the lower center of gravity makes the truck less prone to rollovers.
At C&K Trucking, we think the Tesla truck could be a game changer. The benefits of technology, safety, and lower emissions are undeniable. We’ll soon find out as we’ve placed a pre-order for 5 Tesla trucks. While we are a few years away from putting in our first few miles, we believe in the product and are excited to think forward as our industry continues to evolve.
